Reading God's Word became a true revelation to him. Although Alexander had never doubted the existence of God, he knew nothing of God's character, or of God's plan for his life. As he read the Gospels, his mind began to understand and his heart began to feel the depth of God's love for him. On January 26, 1988 Alexander received Jesus as his Messiah. As he grew in faith, Alexander became acquainted with a congregation planted by Chosen People Ministries. As he attended this congregation his eyes were opened to the fact that the Jewish nation gave the world its knowledge of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Most importantly, Jesus, the promised Messiah, also came to the world from the Jewish people. This led Alexander, a Gentile, to devote his life to helping Jewish people become reconciled to God through faith in Jesus. Alexander and his wife, Anna, a Jewish believer, both serve the Lord through Chosen People Ministries, leading services and Bible studies as well as additional outreach services throughout Ukraine. Alexander is also an elder at Beit El Gibor, a congregation in Kiev planted by Chosen People Ministries. |
Alexander was 22 years old and a first year student at the Foreign Languages Institute in Kiev when he received a pocket-sized copy of the New Testament -- a rare and valuable gift at that time.
